A slow ride through the lands of Dante

On foot or by train: from Florence to Ravenna, in Mugello and the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines
Two means of transport make these wonderful places accessible: by train, and on foot.
The journey through this territory will lead us to places connected with Dante and his exile, to medieval hamlets and ancient buildings, to Romanesque churches and archaeological sites, to museums and artisans’ shops, and to a cuisine that has maintained its ancient traditions through the ages.

The Apennines that stretch between Tuscany and Romagna preserve an uncontaminated environment. They do not offer the lofty heights of the Alps but rather silent and enchanting landscapes that Dante himself knew and travelled: the tall beech forests along the crests, the age-old chestnut trees, the unexpected freshness of the streams, the meadows where deer and roe deer often graze, the ageless drying-huts, and the ancient hermitages situated on solitary sites.
